4WDrive Wingtop Bonnet Release Cable Guard provides a discreet, purpose-built defence for the vulnerable driver-side wing vent on Land Rover Defender Puma vehicles. The laser-cut stainless steel protector blocks access to the bonnet-release cable and is supplied with anti-tamper fixings to deter opportunistic theft and unauthorised engine-bay access while retaining a near-factory appearance.

An easy job, use the new guard as a template, drill 6 holes and rivet in place! Refit your vent over the top using security screws, job done! (Just check the fit with your vent first, depending on the design it may or may not fit over the top without making a spacer.)

This item was easy to fit, my problem was that when I bought my landie it had Hi-Force "intakes" on the wings. I never liked them but had never bothered to change them. When I tried to fit the bonnet cable guard I ran into immediate problems because the interior of the Hi-Force fitting was about 10mm below the standard flat plastic plate so I had to make a spacer! All good fun! However, the stainless steel cable guard plate is robust and would deter the less professional thief. On the other hand a "pro" with a cordless drill would be through the rivets quite quickly. In the end I bought a pair of Optimill wing top covers, which also has a strong stainless steel mesh, and projects 10mm below the wing tops, so my spacer worked well. All topped off with high quality stainless security screws, which again could be removed by the "pro" thief with a cordless drill driver in less than a minute. I guess all you can do is slow them down, which is what my collection of mods. will do.
Fitting was straightforward, and to protect my new 'Puma' style bonnet I feel it is much needed, there is always some issue you didn't expect. So I am really happy I found this.
